Story

Notes written 3/20/10:  This is a chord change that's been stirring around in my head for about a year. So last night I programmed it into my Casio keyboard and then added a pedal steel solo. The inspiration was a DVD I saw recently on Memphis soul music... The details: This is a Williams 700 Series pedal steel, running through a Hilton volume pedal and a Holy Grail Nano reverb unit, then into my Music Man 210-65 vintage tube amp. The amp was recorded with a Rode wide-diaphragm condenser mic, which ran through a Lexicon interface into a laptop. E9th tuning, no picks...

Story

I have been playing this chord change for a few years; I really like it.  I recorded the acoustic guitar and the pedal steel in January, 2011.

This cut was included on a cd anthology put out by the online steel guitar forum; you can hear the rest by visiting www.steelguitarforum.com and ordering a copy.

Story

In February 2010 I programmed my Casio keyboard to play rhythm, bass, and drums for a blues, then added a pedal steel solo. I have been on a pedal steel kick for many years now, and wanted all my friends and fans to be able to hear why I love pedal steel so much! This was recorded on the first take... I called it Blues For Stanley because my father, Stanley Hyman, was a big blues fan and it would have made him happy if he had lived long enough to hear it.

Story

This is a tune I have been playing for years. There is an instrumental version of it (featuring me on guitar and my brother Laurence on trumpet) on my "More Than Halfway Home" cd. In February 2010, on a whim, I cut another version by programming the chord changes into my Casio keyboard and adding a pedal steel solo. One again, this is why I love pedal steel guitar!
